TPA Chicago’s second annual Pink on the River was held on Sunday, September 8, at RPM Events. The event was an overwhelming success, raising a record-breaking $395,000 (and counting) in support of The Pink Agenda and Giuliana Rancic’s FAB-U-WISH program! The afternoon was hosted by Giuliana and Bill Rancic and had an extraordinary silent auction featuring over 130 items, including four one-of-a-kind live auction items, mystery grab bags, and many other exciting in-room activations.
A huge thank you to our Co-chairs, Chicago Committee, Host Committee, Sponsors, Event Partners, and our passionate crowd of over 450 guests. In 2024, The Pink Agenda had the privilege of funding four researchers through our partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The scientific strides our researchers have made in the past year alone are greatly encouraging, and we’re pleased to share their progress with you below. We are thrilled to expand our partnership with BCRF in 2025 and will be supporting a fifth researcher, further advancing our collaborative efforts to make breast cancer history.
Dr. Susan Domchek is exploring how BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations, linked to increased risks of several cancers, affect immune system responses. Her team is investigating how these mutations impact tumor recognition and response, with the goal of developing personalized prevention strategies like immunotherapies and vaccines and improving future screening and treatment approaches.
Dr. Dawn Hershman is working to improve breast cancer care by focusing on adherence to endocrine therapy, financial and insurance barriers, and social determinants like food insecurity. Her team has developed a model to address non-adherence and is studying how reducing food insecurity impacts care. She plans to refine interventions, develop a risk prediction model, and potentially update treatment guidelines for advanced and metastatic breast cancer.
Dr. Neil Iyengar’s research centers on lifestyle interventions to enhance outcomes for breast cancer patients. His Healthy Living Program provides personalized lifestyle plans from diagnosis, using online tools and virtual consultations. With nearly 1,100 patients enrolled, the program shows promise. Dr. Iyengar is launching a trial to test new digital tools and aims to further personalize care and track long-term outcomes.
Dr. Ann Partridge focuses on improving care for young women with breast cancer, who face unique challenges. Her Young Women’s Breast Cancer Study (YWS) has uncovered distinct genomic features and therapeutic targets. The Young, Empowered and Strong (YES) Study offers virtual support to these patients. This year, Dr. Partridge aims to complete YES studies, enhance access to care, and further analyze genomics data to refine personalized therapies.
