Iris’ journey started in 2017 when she found a lump. After an ultrasound and biopsy, she was told that the tumor was benign but that there was a chance it could grow or more could occur. By mid-March 2022, the tumor had doubled in size, and Iris felt a new lump forming. Further testing confirmed her worst fears, and in mid-April, Iris was diagnosed with stage-three IDC breast cancer. At just 26 years old with no family history, this came as an extreme shock.
Over the past year, Iris has undergone a whirlwind of appointments, treatments, and surgeries. This experience has challenged her physically and emotionally, but she has gone through her journey with grace. Throughout this time, Iris’ mother has been with her every step of the way. For her wish, Iris wanted to enjoy a fabulous, fun day together.
FAB-U-WISH and The Pink Agenda were thrilled to grant Iris a special experience with her mother including a day of pampering, beauty, and shopping before an unforgettable afternoon at TPA’s inaugural Pink on the River Brunch in Chicago.
Quote: “I truly believe that cancer made me a better person and has given me a new perspective on life, of what I want to do and who I am trying to become. Although I would never wish this journey on anyone, I do believe there is value in finding positivity out of every situation. We are truly grateful for all that FAB-U-WISH and TPA has done for us and will remember this experience forever!”
