When Courtney welcomed her first child two years ago, her family was elated. Two weeks later, everything changed when her older sister, Kristen, was diagnosed with breast cancer and learned she carries a BRCA2 gene mutation. Courtney also underwent genetic testing, tested positive for the same mutation, and promptly scheduled a double mastectomy. A year after surgery, she was devastated to learn she had breast cancer at age 34 – the same age when her sister was diagnosed. Following successful treatment, Courtney struggled to feel like herself after losing her hair and changes to her body. She’s always loved fashion, and wished for an experience that would help her “feel beautiful in her own skin again.” So, our friends at Kendra Scott treated Courtney and Kristen to a VIP personal shopping experience, complete with one-on-one guidance to help them select beautiful jewelry pieces that best fit their style and delicious coffee and cookies – an experience that Courtney says “overwhelmed her with emotion and excitement.”
