In January 2023, Usuoma felt a pain in her right breast after she picked up her two-year-old. A nurse, she knew something was wrong and continued to do self-checks but never felt a lump. She went to her physician, who refused any additional testing due to her age and a lack of a lump, but Usuoma continued to advocate for herself. She finally got an MRI ordered two months later. The results diagnosed her with stage 3, inflammatory breast cancer, triple negative at the age of 27. Further testing would show that she is also BCRA2+.

The past year has been a blur and upon reflection, Usuoma cannot believe all that she personally went through. Ultimately, she is very grateful. Today, she is cancer-free and pursuing her dream of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Usuoma’s journey embodies resilience, advocacy, and the power of hope. The team at FAB-U-WISH and The Pink Agenda were thrilled and honored to recognized Usuoma and her inspirational journey in an unforgettable evening at the 2024 #TPAAtlantaGala.

“Thank you so much for this opportunity! I am forever grateful.”
